Thought i would share a few changes that i did to my duece coupe over the winter. First of all, i got a new set of rims for it. They are off of a 1933 dodge coupe i sold last year. Then had them painted to match my seat and mounted them to my old tires. Then i had my grill insert painted to match. Next i decided to put on a 3x2 intake i had laying around. After having all the carbs freshened up, i decided to use speedways new kit, that makes it a real 3x2 setup. I also decided to get rid of the big hei dist. And put in a smaller mallory unilite. Then i had to get rid of the ugly zz4 valve covers and decided to do something different and i adapted a set of 1950's mercury valve covers to fit and painted them to match. I think they turned out good. Then i finally talked my dad into finishing my interior, and he did an incredible job on it. I am really impressed on how well it turned out. I also had to redesign all the structure on the p***enger side, so i could put a shoulder harness in for my 3 year old son to go with me this summer. What a challenge. There is way to much wood in a duece. Oh well it will be worth it this summer! Lastly i had to put in a new transmission and shifter to make it easier to drive. Now if i can only get my electroline headlights back from the chrome shop (been there since october, supposed to be back by thanksgiving!!!!!) so hopefully now i can find time to drive it. Maybe indy goodguys will be a good roadtrip for it. If you have time, i would like some opinions on the valve covers, stupid idea? See ya on the streets!

Really a great looking 5-W. The colors are perfect on the interior, wheels, valve covers and grill. Like the shoulder belt idea to keep your boy safe. Good luck for many fun miles. The FOGGER

I like the idea with the valve covers. What kind of water pump are you running, I´ve never seen one of these? Looks like it´s sitting higher than stock?

The water pump on the car is a "zips" water pump riser from socal. It raises the fan on the car about 5 inches, and puts it more in the center of the radiator. And instead of a stock water pump you have to use a water pump off of a 6 cylinder chevy motor. It works really good, never overheated yet!

WOW, it looks great. Glad to see the HEI gone, those really kill the vintage look in my mind. The valve covers and tri-power looks cool too. Dad did a great job on the inside too. Might as well get those garnish mouldings chromed while you're waiting on those headlites. :D

  15. Your 32 looks great. Very tastefully done. I need to make me some valve covers like that for my 40 Merc. They are awesome. Does the Unilite work better than the HEI dist?
    Big thumbs up!!

    LOVE IT!!
Great color combo, and I'm not a 'red' guy.
    Timeless look, congrats.
    Couple of questions:
What's the bolt pattern of the rims, and did you have to modify it?
What did you bolt the shoulder harness to behind the 1/4 window?

First, I gotta agree that your dad did an incredible job. I'm lovin all the changes you made including the valve covers. I wouldn't sweat the absent E-lines too much either, I like how it looks with the Guides. Really sweet ride.

The wheels on the car were pulled right off the one car, painted and put right onto mine. They are originally ford bolt pattern 4.5"x5 so it worked perfectly. They are all four 16" x 4.5", no modifications were necessary, except once i got them all painted and mounted and drove on them, there was some wobble on the back ones, so i had to have them straightened and repainted and then rebalanced, and now they seem fine. As for the shoulder belt mount, that was alittle more involved. I ended up making a piece of 10 gauge 4"x2" steel tubing that matched the radius of the corner. I maded it in 4 pieces and then welded it together. The piece bolts in 6 places to the side quarter window wood and the back window wood. Then the bottom of the seat belt is bolted to a bracket behind the upholstery that is bolted directly to the frame. I hope all of this is strong enough, i think i over engineered it, but you can never be too safe, i think the whole corner of the car would probably cave in if it was in an accident, but hopefully it will hold my kid! Thanks for all the good comments.
