I have a few gallons of mil surplus alkyd enamel paint that is a light blue color (sky blue). It's real purdy, but I have no need for any paint that color. Is it possible to change the color to black some how? I'm thinking maybe using lamp black powder? Will that even work or is there possibly some other method to try? I'm thinking I could use it for painting under carriage stuff. Anybody got any thoughts on this?
OK, off to the recycle it goes then. I've used a couple gallons of it painting work benches and some shop stuff, but have run out of other uses for it. I figure at this point I've gotten my money's worth out of it. Maybe I'll post it on c list before I recycle it. Thanks again squirrel!
Sounds like the same stuff everything in the high school autoshop I taught in was painted with in the late 70's when I started teaching. Kids called the color "auto shop blue" Tough paint if you don't mind the long wait for it to dry.
Paint costs are sky high. I sold some of that alkyd enamel for I think $30 a gallon a few years ago. So I would put it up for sale. Light blue would probably sell well.
