Does anyone out there in never-never land know the story on this coupe? Where it hails from? Who built it, and when? The wheels are a time give away................... Thanks.
I bet the wheels and the late Ford engine were bolted in during the 80's. But everything else is probably 20 or 30 years older than those.
I don't see a flag on the roof................ LOL!!!! Nice looking car, I’d like to know the history too. Alchemy is probably spot on!!
Are you going to restore it to the 1982 version? You'll have to compete with the General Lee fanatics for a set of turbine wheels.
Can't help with the history but neat car. Doesn't look like anything is wrong with it that couldn't be unbolted if a guy liked channeled hot rods. ironandsteele.com
Your second car has a hand full of ch***is differences but maybe the body is the same? No help on any history but it looks neat. Dig the bobbed fenders. A wheel and tire change would back date it 20 years
According to the story, the "car" came out of a storage locker just South of Chicago. Doors went sometime along the way. I have a West Coast Channeled car (Juggars Coupe) and would like to roll a restored East Coast version next to it.
Nooooo. Modern street rodding is to much cookie cutter the same now. More old school channelled cars is what we need.
Just as I would probably NEVER channel an original Henry the opposite is true. Somewhere out there in the real world is one more of us un-sung non-heros that never had ink or made it to the lawn at Pebble in the Hot Rod Cl***, and it's HIS CAR that I want to restore. So, channeled........it will remain.
All I have to say @Bob McCaffrey is that Coupe is AWESOME! I love East-Coast-channeled fender less style Coupe's and I'm excited to read that you're going to keep it that way... I love mine and for those that do not, they need to learn to say something nice and positive or don't say anything at all. PLEASE do***ent your fixer-up journey and share with us. Hotrod Coupe's RULE.
Personally I don't mind people giving an opposite opinion. Sometimes criticism can help us to see a mistake or problem. Or just help us to loom with a critical eye at our own work and improve it. And sometimes we just don't agree. We don't have to. Neither to they.
I doubt it. How many were done in a similar manner back then ? No bolt holes where the guards were bolted up high is the first thing that I see. Why would the frame horns be cut off now, or in the ‘80’s, but not back then ? Flat recessed firewall now, with no bolt holes, yet older photo seems to have things bolted to it ? Is the recess the same ? Channel on bottom one seems deeper !
Great observations and response. I don't normally like to use the word....but this could just be a TRIBUTE car to all those back yard projects from the East Coast then never materialized completely and were left half done in the barn. Then let it stand on its own.
If you don't find any info on it, then I would un channel it and fix the body. They are so much easier to drive un channeled.
