I have been trying to figure out the difference between the 2 and I am REALLY confused. Here is what I got, and if this is the case, I have been wrong all along. Channeling: Chopping a section of the body out, and then rejoining the 2 halves back together Sectioning: Cutting a part of the floor out and relocating the body back ionto the frame (lower than before) I had ths all backwards if this is the case. Can you guys tell me the difference? Thanks
You have them backwards. Channeling, or body dropping, is lowering the body around the frame. Sectioning is cutting a horizontal section out of the body, shortening the height.
That is EXACTLY how is saw it, but I read the opposite, and just wanted to clarify. With that being said, do many people section their model a's? Thanks again Dima
Sectioning is seldom done and probably the most labor intensive as well as requiring the most skill of any major bodywork project. More than a few cars have gone to the great crusher in the sky due to the owners getting in too deep and the car is destroyed to the point where it's un-salvageable by most. Channeling is a tough gig, but most guys eventually reach their goal. Regardless, there are some very nice cars running around that have minimal modifications that are well within the capabilities and reach of their owners. Just gotta think about what you want and where you want to go....
There's not really a lot of room on a model a for sectioning. Most people have a hard time getting in 'em when they're just chopped. I've seen only one. And it was cartoonish, the dude had to lay down to drive it. I'm sure it could be done with taste. But it would need a LOT of taste. Chopping, channelling, and sectioning a model A would make the whole car disappear. The Green grenade is Anti-sectioned. Dude added a part in the middle. Looks pretty rad.
