Do you learn the hard way? Did you learn from you father? Did you go to school? Or work your way up from sweeping the floors. Do you ever think about those that have helped you through the years and want to thank them? Maybe now youre in the position to change roles and p*** your hard earned knowledge on to those that want to learn your trade and possibly find a job in the ch***is building/fabricating field. If this sounds interesting send me a PM. WyoTech is looking for a few good instructors for the ch***is fab, high performance engines cl***. The pay in decent, fringe benefits are many and you could help jump start the careers of some young people that may look up to you the way you do to those that helped you. By the way this is for the Wyoming campus P.S. Hi Doug! Thanks for all you taught me
I jumped back and forth between engineering drafting and fabricating. Got familiar with both sides of that street. At the same time I was drag racing (slingshot) and running oval track sportsmen, supers, and sprint cars. I was never afraid to ask questions and paid close attention to how cars were built. I was mostly self-taught....tried taking a cl*** for TIG but that didn't work out so I bought one and sat down and practiced 'til I was satisfied with the results.
I grew up working are all sorts of hot rods/trucks/muscle cars, then got into offroad stuff. I hang out at a shop until the finally gave me a job. I watched and learned. Started building and experimenting on my own stuff. It has just progressed from there. I read books and magizines, hang it the pits of all sorts of races, ask questions and watch....Always learning.... Best resources is still the old guys in your area, you'd be amazed what the will teach/help you with if.
I am by far not a ch***is builder. But, I learned more from a good pal of mine than I could in any cl***. He builds race car ch***is in the evenings and welds food grade stainless during his day job. Everytime we work together I learn something. I know this puts nothing into you post Brick...........
