i have a 56 Ford COE cab... I have a buddy with a 88-2001 Ford F-350 van type motorhome with a 460 efi running driving he will give me. Is this a good frame swap for the COE cab? Anyone done this swap?

  2. I'm not certain when they changed but I believe it was 1991. The '91 and older is a definite yes for the swap. There's a thread here in the group where people state what they've used- several that have done that swap. I'm preparing to but haven't gotten the van home from it's current resting place.
Now- lets see the 56 cab

It is a good candidate for your swap as long as the donor is a full frame style motor home. My friend Wayne bought a brand new motor home ch***is with the EFI 460 for his 48 Ford C.O.E years ago and had a lot of trouble free miles.

will the twin ibeam front end Work ok with the COE cab?

  5. Yep- Twin I beam suspension is fine. Econolines/E series have had twin I's for 40 or 50 years now. Pretty much any of the Ford van ch***is anyone would get would have it.

  7. wetskier2000 used a dodge, I believe 1500 but he figured out the steering on it. It's possible if that's the ch***is/engine you want.

I just figured the e350 ch***is would be easier and it has running gear in it that’s good and the best part it’s free and has only 80k miles on it

Free is good. The 50's ford COE.s have pretty wide fenders but i'd still check the track width before you fire up the torch.
