I question the need for a 9" Rear, I would save some horsepower draw and go with an 83/4 Chrysler it takes a few more horses to spin that 9"

Hi Hat, It wasn't really that I felt I needed the 9 inch ,it was because I had it on hand, Don't have the money I used to have to throw at one of these cars, I have mark williams axles and spool in it and have less than $400 in all of it, so thats what I'm useing, besides I've been out of the racing game for 17 years and haven't driven a dragster for close to 30 years, just plan on going out and haveing a good time, BTW thats one nice lookin fiat body you have , don't see many steel ones these days, so if you don't plan on building yet ,what are you running? Thanks Buddy, I take that as a hell of a compliment coming from a guy who's car is a RECORD KILLER on the salt and track, Tim Jones

Watch out for the 8 3/4 rears. When that pinion gear shears it goes for the jewels!!

This is a dangerous word as we age. I hope you start to begin collecting stuff for your build tomorow.

Well Robert don't worry the 9 inch isn't going anywhere, Although I've used 8 3/4's ,early olds, ford 9 inch's and even early chevy in my other dragsters, the only one that ever broke was the early chevy :( and when it did you felt it:eek:, A few of the fuel cars I worked on had 8 3/4 rears, but like I said I'll stick with the 9 inch, Sorry to hear your car won't be done this year, about the middle of summer I knew Mine wouldn't be done til next summer also , O well life goes on, Tim Jones

Yeah, I wish the car was ready but life goes on. On the other hand the 8 3/4 rears look so killer with that rounded back end of the housing like the early nine inchers do and some olds rears.

One can't have enough toys! I am starting to gain Yamaha XS650 twin parts. MUCH cheaper than my ol' Triumph stuff!!! A man in Ohio put a vintage group together, and he got M/T to repop the old 4" slicks. So, 35psi, damp tire, dump the clutch, and...

    SMOKE 'EM!!

Kind of a slow go over my weekend, did the biggest No No when haveing dogs, never use your hands to break up a dog fight, Got both thumbs bit up sunday before work,DAM TREATS!!, today was the first day I really could use my thumbs, got my wireing figured out, even cranked the motor over YEA!! sorry, big deal for me I suck at wireing, even something as simple as a dragster, got the switch panel mocked in place , got suited up and guess what? barely could get in or out of the car:(, Back to the drawing board:mad: downsized the panel, now can get in and out fine a couple inchs on each side makes a big diffarance with a firesuit on, BTW the dogs are buddies again two minutes after the fight they were playing like nothing happened proablly laughing at me for sticking my hands in the mess  Tim Jones

Hi Tim, sounds like you need to read the rulebook to your dogs. Rule #1. NEVER BITE BOSS, when in doubt bite someone else, but NEVER, NEVER bite boss. Boss will bite back... Hope your hand is better. I got eight stitches before the dogs learned Rule #1.

Funny you say that Carl, a few weeks ago when I had the flathead motor out of the car, I was gonna drop the KB for the funny in it for a pic to post ,but my better judgement told me not to, I figured all my new flathead buddies would dis own me:D Tim jones

    Hey Tim,
I was cleaning up around here, and packing stuff up (I bought a house!). Lookie what I found. I guess I was bound to figure out a way to build an NHRA legal digger that still looks something like a TE440. The other photo is the car I always wanted to copy, the Einolander & Candee homebuilt digger.

Cool pics Justin, You know these plans you sent me are part of the reason my cage is like it is, my TE440 cage wasn't tall enough to hide most of the six point cage, but I really like the look now ,kinda lost the Chassis Reasearch style look tho at the cage, BTW Congrates on the house, Tim Jones

IT'S ALIVE!!!!! Finally after a few little bugs and set backs:(, The dragster started, I'm one happy SOB right now!!!, Never let it run too long, Started about 5 times with no problems other than a little carb work, Pretty cool something going from this to this, Still need to get the driveline together this winter, at least now I can make some noise to keep me going:D
