Actually, this give me an idea of how to get a relatively cheap leather interior on my '55 Chevy pickup bench seat. I don't know how to upholster but there's a shop in the tough part of town that works fairly cheap and with this source for FREE leather, the job might be affordable!
I'm going to file that away. I have been planning on a glitter-vinyl seat for my truck, but this might be the way to go. Did you find that blown Olds under the cushions?
Great idea! Old leather couches are not much to look at but are usually the most comfortable! Was the material difficult to sew through or did you just use glue and the tuck method? Can you use a machine or just hand thread it? Here in socal, old couches like that are readily available. Looks like another way for me to pinch a couple pennies together!
its horrible the pictures disapeared a long time ago i bet. and yet i read the tread and more and more i wanted to see the pictures. im just torturing myself but i had the same idea im taking car upholstery classes and fabric is really expensive these days. so i was thinking about finding old leather couches. its great to see it aint a new thing and where else wil i find it but the hamb
