Thanks, it was briefly. We tore it down not long after I bought it. The 61 wagon pull/push car is almost done and I'm hoping the FED is next.

I like the look of the M&H ones myself. I already talked to them and they said they were okay with no tubes. They also have a 8.50" x 14" slick. I'll have to look at the heights when I'm ready.

  6. Jason, we think a lot alike. I never been worried about fines. I look at it this way, it's just a price I have to pay , to play. I do have a perfect driving record, and with no points. And that also keeps the Insurance on the cheap too. But back in the day ,{what they call the good old days} I had to pay a lot more to play. lol I got pull over years ago in the U.F.O. and the officer fined me for having an altered suspension. And I could think of probably a dozen different violations, like straight exhaust, the tires, blue dots, etc. etc. So I politely said thank you sir.{ but altered suspension, really?}. But now days I still want the Rods to be safe. But I just think that the cops, like our old Hot Rods better now. So Virginia is for Lovers, and Hot Rods too. lol;) Ron...

I can only add, I've no experience with the present offerings. Borrowed a pair of the originals once (cheaters) and they would bite, once ya got 'em hotter'n' gates of hell.:D

Racemaster I ran some M & H back in the 60s and thought they were good but that was after running recap pie crusts that separated so anything seemed better then. My present Hurst pie crust (two sets, both have some minor separation that does not seem to be getting any worse) but I would not trust them at speed or on the track. I sometimes run ET Streets but they do not have the nostalgia or vintage look IMO. Hopefully the new M & H are decent as I would like to run a set of those but of course I cannot run them at a pie crust drag race. Will probably go with the 8.20 x 15 Radirs and hope they give me a little clearance on the wheelwell dogleg. If there is enough money in the cookie jar I may have to pop for Radir and M & H (unless I hear in the meantime negative reviews on the M & H).

I've run the M&H slicks some on the street, maybe 200 miles worth to and from our local track, etc. They seem fine if you don't get caught in the rain. Being bias plies, they 'feel' a little funny going down the road - the back end of the car moves side-to-side a little. I'm used to the Excelsior Radials with more solid footing/handling.

The Radirs work well on the street, no rain of course . You have to watch taking corners abit fast like on a back road. The rear will kick out on you, but nothing to crazy.
