Check out Model A Sedan!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Krash, Sep 22, 2009.

  1. Finally figuring out how to post pics!...This is my 1930 Model A Sedan. It will have an early 60's vibe to it. Some of the body mods are a 4 inch chop, channel, custom floor, grill shell chopped 4inches and channeled BLC headlights and 39 Ford Tailights.
The frame is custom built, but based on a model A. It's stretched and z'd. The wheels are 40 Ford painted HOK candy apple red. The engine's a 1954 Caddy with 59' Caddy Tri-power.
The interior will have red metal flake plastic diner style seats, a red flake steering wheel, tall ass shifter and moon tank in the rear.
I plan to drive it with the current blue paint for a few years and then paint it a dark candy or little flake blue with mentioned red interior. The engine will be the same red as the wheels. The firewall will be a pearl or bone white. The roof will either be open or have just wood cross bows.
I have done all the work myself except build the frame, radiator and lakes headers.

nice! keep us posted. i wanna see the final product

  21. Thank you for all the kind words!! Kail, The fronts are 6.00x16 and the rears are 7.50x16. I wanted the big and little look with a slight rake. I may play a little more with the suspension to get more rake. If I were to do it again I may go with a 5.50x16 in the front to get it a little lower. With 16" wheels and tall ass tires it's tough to get it real low. I don't like suicide front ends on Tudor's. In my opinion it makes the wheel base look too long.

  24. I have to say, that looks killer, I like the way it sits.
I think I want to do a tudor for my next project.
    Again, good job there man.
    Grits

  25. Dang! Sorry, I just realized I posted it as a sedan and not a Tudor. I feel like a tard like I don't even know what kind of car I have. Oh well, I'm use to it....I don't like I can edit the title..

I think you nailed it sits great,
what diff are you runnin in the rear and what is it out of? lookin for overall width
    Thanks Andy

  27. Thank you. It's a 9" Ford out of a 78 Ford King cab Pickup. It has the heavy duty housing. It was the right width though without modifications. I believe it is the widest nine inch. I think it was 62-63 inches. I can't remeber. I think I searched on google and found all the 9" rearend applications with width/gear ratio etc. There were a few sites that were very helpful. Try a search. I looked through my paperwork to see if I wrote it down and didn't. I can measure on the car if you need.

I have a weakness for Model A Tudors. Do you have any earlier progress pics?
