Art & Inspiration Check out my new Pinstriper's box!!!

  1. The Watson kit contained about 60 lettering brushes;most of which were stamped with the Watson logo.In researching the kit,I got an e-mail from Mike Jackson(who hosts the Hand Lettering forum)that contained an ad from a 1920's era Watson catalog. It showed that kit with all the accessories(mahl stick,4 cans for solvents,a brush box,and 20 brushes of various sizes)retailing for $30.20.Don't know what that works out to in 2010 dollars but I would imagine it is substantial.
The Stoiber kit;although it didn't have as much stuff contained nearly 80 striping brushes including broad liners and quills.I managed to save all but 3 of them and am currently using a couple in my everyday work. These brushes will pull an unreal line:a #3 will do a line from about 1/32nd of an inch wide up to about 1/2 inch equally well.I figure at the rate I go through brushes I will probably exhaust the supply in about 30 years. I am now 66 and I don't expect to be doing a lot of striping by then.:D
