see that's the thing, you need to lose the "ratty", go for a cool 60's custom, skinny whites (not wide), color, lots of it, you can use the discs if you want but I'd suggest the ripple discs at least for the t-bird, then later on get a set of supremes...

These are the pics you should stare at for a long time.

This is a realistic goal for you, supremes [ wheels ] , cut 2 of the coils in the front suspension, put 3" lowering blocks under your axle/on top of your leaf springs in the rear. Just doing this will make the car look killer. Cruise it and have fun with it - but please do not paint it black and put those things on the wheels :D

Man, that was a good deal on it! They also look great with the old style lowrider wheels, something like Cragar Tru-spoke wire wheels, or deep offset Cragar SS wheels in 14" sizes.

For a gold mine of 60s era correct style, it's hard to beat this place:

Don't let what you think you don't know stand in the way of doing that car justice. Spend just one good week on the net researching traditional lowriders and Bellflower style and you'll have a vision in your head that will make you glad you waited to spray that flat black paint. Generally, I love moon discs on just about anything, but they ain't right for that car.

And ask lots of questions too. There's tonnes of guys around here who know lots. I'm just not one of them.

Nice car, by the way. I almost picked up a 65 a couple years back and I'm still kicking myself for not grabbing it when I could.

cherry, as in color, not as in a couple cherrys all over the car. HA!

I have seen this before, I think the guy owned a shop or something and had two wrecked cars so he made this. This isn't a very flattering pict of it. The side and front looked much better. Looks like he ran out of steam when it came to the hatch.

B.&W., here is my take on this KILLER rig, put some bullets on center of those awesome original hubcaps, clean up the original paint, carefully primer the rust repair, possibly with some white primer scallops to disguise the repair, lower the car some, some nice twice pipes (dual exhaust), look up the excellent tech tips here on the H.A.M.B. about painting whitewalls, all the fab. trim would remain on the car if mine, some pinstriping accents, enjoy!! The racing discs are always cool, please don't step backward with a rattle can primer job, my opinion this would be a disaster!! To find this cruiser in this condition and be a driver is really a super find. Thanks for letting me put in my 2-cents. Treat her like the luxury cruiser she is-Best to ya-Sololobo

    OMG

GET RID OF THAT FURRY DASH COVER!!!!

Black primer would be a mistake. Primer is way over done IMO. Nice shinny basecoat clearcoat black would look awesome, but it'll probably cost you to do it right. Since the car is already red I would try to get the fixed areas color matched/blended back to the stock color for now.

My Father just bought a '63 Bird Sport Roadster (documented real one) out of Arizona. Has a tri-power, but it's not correct for the car, but who cares. Can hardly wait to drive it.

I have a thing for these birds. Particularly the '61.

Clearly this lad aint an experienced fabricator who's gonna do a roof swap in his garage at home. He needs usefull practical advice...like the best way to bondo up the rust and design a set of scallops that will cover most or all of the patches, and to get some swap meet hubcaps and skinny white walls, and spend a few bucks at a good spring sho coz stance is EVERYTHING.....but being three car builds on from where he is now, I say lose the pillar trim and flake that roof, then spend ur time worrying about not letting the local girls fight over who's riding with ya on Friday nights!!!

my dad had one of these and he did juse a few things. I totally agree with the astros and skinny white walls. also a nice trick on these is to color match the bumpers to the body. but if the chrome is nice i would leave it alone.

T-Birds (of Any Year) are Works of Art.

    I love em all.....

But I really like the one in this old, old old

old old old rock video from Mr Mr.........(1980s)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWyeVfuolT4

The way the lead singer throws that old car around in the 136 degree Desert Heat is, is

    is ?

Makes me want to have taken that same ride Down a Twisted Dead End and Dusty Trail,
Miles Away From Ely Nevada too.

Especially in a awesome old reliable car like that,
Heck, I'd still go even if a guy somehow accidentally got lost and
took a wrong turn at Albuquerque
...maybe even driving a Flathead.... .

    Good Find by the way,

The 63's have some of the finest body lines going, the trim level both inside and out is unprecedented (other than a similar year Lincoln)

    jmho

    On A Side Note
That Video also happened to come out right about the time as the "Mojave Phone Booth" thing happened...

although some have speculated that they are intertwined, my opinion is that they are just two dam good stories that are unrelated, Ones a video and ones a honest to goodness true story (circa 1990's).....

    Link:

"""Well, I have a question for you. I'm looking for a phone booth.

    A phone booth . . .

There is a phone booth in the Mojave Desert, and it's like fifteen miles off of I-15. Does that ring a bell at all? """

    ???

what ever, I do hope that I may own one more T-bird before ?

Before I wear out my welcome

  30. Hi

I have posted this before, but here they are again. I saw this T-Bird at Redondo Beach a couple years ago.
