Yeah, I'm probably gonna get ripped cause I'm running later model Buick wheels, but I ain't got the green for cool steelies and caps. These were what I had to work with.

Started with a chunk of aluminum left over from when we taught foundry here at the high school. I don't have much left, cause I used it to build points/daggers and bolt covers and brackets for my Harley's.
Cut off the corners to get a sort of round shape, chucked it in the 4 jaw to get her round, then 3 jawed it to size. It has a step center 2" x .125" to fit tight in the wheel center, and put a 1/2" bolt in from the rear to hold it.
Take a look, and let me know what you think, 'cause I appreciate the feedback.

Yeah, I know billet don't do it for most of ya, but once again, use what you got. Plus, I MADE IT, I didn't buy it...later

Can't figure out how to get my pics sized with the new restricts, so here's a link:

Don't be so defensive.....ya done good, son !

They look great and best of all, you made 'em yourself.

  3. looks good but you used a big chunck of AL to build something you could by for a couple of bucks at the swap meet.

Maybe next time make a cool colum drop or something like that....

    I still like it...

Hey those look pretty good, Kudos on makin' them yourself too. But, a little food for thought. If you thought old steelies and caps were expensive, wait til you go to rechrome them wheels you got, (to go with the shiney new bullets). Hope you're saving your pennies.

    Thanks Tagman...I'm my worst critic

Point me in the direction of those swaps, cause I ain't ever seen em around here (Arkansas), and I want to save my scrap :)

Yeah, but did you see the patina on the car? It's all gonna stay that way, and I'm gonna drive the thing:D . Just wanted to fill the holes in the center of the Buick wheels, and had some time to burn.

The kids (students) really dig watching the "little aluminum worms" come off the lathe. Telling them not to touch it, cause its hot... walking away to help another student and hearing them go "DANG! man that's hot" as they stick a finger on it while my back is turned.

Sadistic, I know, but I gotta get my laughs somehow.

  6. Looks good to me - he said as he brushed aluminum chunks out of his hair, off his shirt and shoes....:D

Nice part about these is you're not gonna see another set like them.

Far better to have a one of a kind item than the same ol stuff everybody else runs.

    Well done....

I like 'em. They totally change the appearance of an otherwise unattractive wheel. Dig it.
