my pal stopped by today with this radio he found at his brothers house, my first thought was 1937 ford but then i second guessed that. on the inside someone scratched 1940 but i think maybe that was the year it was repaired. anyone know the year?

Most if not all vacuum tubes are dated on the black bake-o-lite bases. They are thought as having a limited shelf life so dates are important.

If you find one close to your presumed date range you are probably real close. Might have to cross some dates/codes but pleanty of info on line.

    from So. Cal.

It's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

  8. They are not worth what the under dash radios are. That was a two piece unit. The head mounted in the dash in the ash tray opening and cables went over to the box under the dash. Alot of restorers wont want them because they mount in the glove box opening on the dash.
