my pal stopped by today with this radio he found at his brothers house, my first thought was 1937 ford but then i second guessed that. on the inside someone scratched 1940 but i think maybe that was the year it was repaired. anyone know the year?
Most if not all vacuum tubes are dated on the black bake-o-lite bases. They are thought as having a limited shelf life so dates are important. If you find one close to your presumed date range you are probably real close. Might have to cross some dates/codes but pleanty of info on line.
i told him if i put the pictures on the Hamb it would be identified in less than 15 minutes. thanks guys... ok here it comes... what's it worth? sorry.
They are not worth what the under dash radios are. That was a two piece unit. The head mounted in the dash in the ash tray opening and cables went over to the box under the dash. Alot of restorers wont want them because they mount in the glove box opening on the dash.
thanks for the replies, i don't know if it is for sale i was just curios because you just don't see them very often.
Move that dial over to the speedo! Tighten your crash helmet, Chuck, we're going 150 kilocycles per minute!
