Hey my buddy call me the other day and said he had bought a $1500 dollar car!!! He said you should see it!!! He told me the previous owner parked it 1969 and it was parked because of the Brake Master Cylinder needed replaced. It only has 78k miles and has Power steering, Power Brakes and Air Conditioning. The body originally was Burgundy but has faded away! Also the Interior is burgundy and Black and the chrome and body is in good shape all around!!! He had recently put some starter fluid and a battery and started it right up!! He calls it a Turd Dragger!!!
Kewl, I really like that series of Buicks 54/56 <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
KILLER. Those sad face Buicks are cool. Throw some hubcaps on there. You can get repop 1960's style for a reasonable price.
Cool looking but weird mechanics. The chassis is very much late 1930s design. Closed drive line, weak brakes, lever shocks, poor handling and Dynaflow. I've owned a couple 55s. Your buddy got a good deal. Looks like it has those optional rain deflectors over front windows.
He paid 1500 bucks for such an old car? Dude, he should have saved up and bought an 84' Camaro!! Seriously, nice find. Get it running and drive it!
I know where there is another one that was for sale if any one is interested. Check out the picture it is in the right side. Let me know if you want the number of the guy.
Wow!! too bad it doesn't fall into "clunker" territory, it'd be worth $4500 and he could make some money! I'm wondering if the paint might rub out. Wern't the early G.M.'s painted with laquer? Great score, instant hot rod!
I always cringe when I hear that somebody has gotten lucky, and then proceeded to turn that luck into a gamble. Tell your buddy to pull the oil-pan and clean it out before driving or running this engine any further! When cars sit for that kind of time, especially in a hot climate like Oklahoma, the heat slowly cooks the grimey deposits on the inside of the block. All that junk slowly slides into the oilpan! This same corrosive sediment percolates over the years, water condenses into the mix and it becomes really toxic to an engine! Just draining the oil will NOT get the job done! This stuff isn't oil, it's more like greasy grit from the casting shedding tiny flakes. This soup will lunch a motor in short order. Dump the oil, filter and pull the oilpan. Most times it's best to pull the plugs and pour penetrating oil into each cylinder before rotating the engine by hand then let it set over night to penetrate the rings before waking up a sleeping engine like that. Obviously that is too late on this engine. It's not too late to get the crap out of the pan though! It's a nice looking car, it won't be near as nice with a blown motor over a little maintinence. Amen brother. I have seen buddies loose engines and trannys in cars that have been sitting for decades. Always a good idea to clean them out, and replace some gaskets before trying to start them.
