Those are some awesome cars, but I can only imagine if they were built today, that they may be considered "gold chainer" car since they have nice (well, at least shiney) paint, chrome and whitewalls. I still love them.
Middle picture is Wally Parks, left, and Ak Miller, Right. My guess is that the guy in the middle is Ray Brown?
lol Doane actually drove the hell outta his roadster... can't remember how many of the 50 states it said he'd been to, though.
Yep it sure is. I remember when that car was built and in all the little hot rod mags. IMHO it is still one of the coolest hot rods ever built. That car never gets old.
He drove to 42 of the 50 states visiting Indy twice. A very well built car capable of racing Panamerica from which it was originally built for.
Nice cars fer sure If I'm not mistaken the roadtser of Mr. Nelson where on sale a few years back. I do think it was discoussed on here aswell. I may be wrong. Anyways here's the dude. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKw9riyogFQ Paul
The car in the picture never competed in the Panamerica and wasn't capable of it. It was originally built to do exactly what it did which was haul Doane's *** all over creation and occasionally unwind at the lakes... Doane tore it completely apart not too terribly long after that pic to create a Panamerica compet***or that arguable would have looked nothing like the car that we all know and love today... The more I see of the original the more I like it. Something simple and yet very refined about it. Those three cars are awesome...
