I'd drive it. My wife would be absolutely horrified, which I would consider a plus... I would leave the spare as is, put an upscale cover on it, and possibly lose one set of portholes, fill the back door lines and paint it. Maybe Buick Terrace Green with a mint green roof. But I sure as hell dont "like it" to the tune of $5800!!
cool buick... butt that spare! too bad they cut it into that rear right door skin... now about all the port holes.... i'd keep them all. maybe even put strobe lights in them! and drive it! no real sense to put much into it beyond the mechanicals. it will never be a beauty.
Maybe the old back door could still hinge open and the spare could go into a pocket inside. I'm not sure the door skin was cut out for the spare, seems like it's just tacked on over the top.
I wouldn't change a thing, well now that I think about it; maybe put on a set of crusty old Halibrands.
I see potential to the right person. A lot of work has already been done, it just needs finishing to tidy up a few things.

Not that I'm an expert in English language but wrecker? Wrecker Tow truck Parts getter Shop truck Home wrecker But the car from the first post, is a lot of things, but not a wrecker!! I might be in between a parts getter, shop truck, pick me up some cigarets cars, or roadside repair vehicles. But it's NOT a wrecker to me. No disrespect meant I think it should be saved, used and driven hard, but it will never be a pretty car to me.

Hmmm, a fold out wrecker boom? My guess it wasn't very successful. Love to have the car tho, it'd be tits with a major cleanup.
Okay, I'm willing to stand for that one, but not stand corrected. Twice wrecked and soon to rebuild for the second time, with a added boom. Tow vehicle is the biggest leap I would make on calling this. This is not even a truck to me, it is a converted car with a bed. If you sunk the spare to the bottom of the door and lose the fender port holes some nice wheels . I am glad it is not close to me , don't need anymore projects.
Hey Volvobrynk ... you should see all the home job wreckers of yesteryear ... many an old big engine Cadillac, Lincoln, Packard and the like stripped down and boomed in the 20's and 30's. Can you imagine the value of one of those factory coach built originals today, prior to being ripped apart, converted, and finally worn out ? V12 and V16 powered even. Yikes ! Theres an old ass picture of a big dollar Cadillac all chopped up, with a hokey bed, and a flim flam A frame looking boom on its rear ... with a Model A dangling precariously in the breeze behind it. A dealer wrecker for a Cadillac dealership way back when. Just a used car then. Think that picture is on the HAMB ? Crazy deal. One man's trash keeps playing over and over in the head. There's an instance of even a Duesenberg being wrecker-fied. Dear God the horror ! A Duesey wrecker ! Anyways ... in Texas we would chunk the spare on the roof, post up some big longhorn steer horns on its hood front like Boss Hog from the Dukes of Hazard, and rifle rack that rear window. Those car wrecker never been a big hit over here. There have been some Model A and 29/30 Chevy around, but most of them was small trucks or AAs. And after WW2 90 % of all wrecker was funded by the Marshall help or Surplus army equipment. So the likes of Chevy Art Deco trucks, Bedford R series, a few jailbar trucks CMP ford and Chevys (the bulldog looking cab type 13 with either flathead or stovebolt), so car wreckers was very rare. And if they where they were Willys MB with a trailer dolly So that will never be a wrecker to me... I start sounding like a broken record The last one ain't a wrecker either, but was a shop truck at some point
..... yep, but before we figured that out over here, we had clever fellas' ingenuity making do with whatever worked. Big draft horse teams were "wreckers" here in many places thru up to the war years. The featured Buick with its tow bar rig was used as a wrecker until 1973.
Buick custom built service wrecker from the 50's. Was for sale in Virginia. Said it ran and the wrecker mechanism that comes up from the floor still worked. They even spread a rumor that Harley Earl was the designer but I seriously doubt that.
