With no more Checkers than they actually built I never thought about if they were ever exported. And in many European cities they would have been considered too large to drive around on their relatively narrow streets.
This was a private import . It could never become a Taxi in NZ due to being LHD. Some hotrodder probably loaded it into a container with a bunch of other cars. It surprised me when I saw it [and had to photograph it] I've never seen one in the flesh before. Cool though! Here was the show . Yessir, 552 used cabs were bought for 1952 Helsinki Olympics. The court case here lasted for years as the cars were shitboxes and not as promised. Only a couple were even running at all. Just one of them is left today.
