    wow, they sure get around!

Apparently a bunch went to Finland also

  4. With no more Checkers than they actually built I never thought about if they were ever exported. And in many European cities they would have been considered too large to drive around on their relatively narrow streets.

This was a private import . It could never become a Taxi in NZ due to being LHD.
Some hotrodder probably loaded it into a container with a bunch of other cars.

It surprised me when I saw it [and had to photograph it] I've never seen one in the flesh before.
    Cool though!

    Here was the show .

Not a bad show for a Wednesday afternoon [this show covered the main street and several side streets]

Waihi is a rural town with a population of 6000 [this show was the opening for the "Beach-hop" which goes from Wednesday to Sunday where 1500+ cars have entered, and more show up as spectators roll in]

we have a "mild" obsession for cars in NZ:D

  6. Yessir, 552 used cabs were bought for 1952 Helsinki Olympics. The court case here lasted for years as the cars were shitboxes and not as promised. Only a couple were even running at all. Just one of them is left today.
