They may not have won a lot of races
but no one ever looked better losing one.

My dad had a Cheetah slot car when I was a kid, always wanted to race that one and he rarely let me until I got older and finally learned to keep the cars on the track. Our track folded down out of the basement wall and going off track meant a 4' drop to tiled concrete floor. I broke more than one of his cars, I'm sad to say. Anyway, I've always been a Cheetah fan because of that slot car.

There's a body and frame on Egay for cheap in WI. Wish I lived closer, somebody's gonna get a sweet deal.

Always thought they were cool, too. I must have had a half-dozen of the COX slot car versions. I got to see a continuation car last year at the Roar n Soar show at Fantasy of Flight in Florida. I'm 90 percent sure I'm using this same color on my 27 truck! Later, Gary

i had the cox slot car as well, both 1/24 and 1/32 scale.

i recall the body was like building a car model, with all kinds of pieces like morrors etc to glue on.

needless to say most of that stuff was off the first lap around the track. i remember the cool mags that went on with an acorn nut that looked like the center cap. cost like 7 bucks at pennys

    certainly they are bueatiful cars

The last one I saw was at Monterey Historics in '05. Let's just say I had a shit eating grin on the whole time I looked at that thing.

They have such a SHORT wheelbase, and so much relative power...fun.

I also currently own both a 1/32 and 1/24 Cox slot car Cheetah. Hard to find tracks these days!

I lifted this shot from HEMI32's 1964 Portland Roadster Show program. Love the five-spokes and whitewalls.

Forgive me if this violates board rules... but a few members here have mentioned about a Cheetah slot car. My company makes several versions of the Cheetah slot car in 1/24, with one more coming this year.

Wouldn't this box art make a nice poster? I guess so would a lot of other "classic" or trend-setting box art designs, eh? Gary

One of my friends had one and raced it at OCIR for a time in late 1969 early 1970. In parnership with the owner of Fletcher Concrete, Bob Warner, of Bob's Automotive, Santa Ana built one complete with a 427, turbo 400 and a Martinez paint job and Nat Quick lettering..... I helped him piece it together when off duty with the Marine Corps...Ran pretty easy high 10's no matter if Fletcher or Bob were behind the wheel. Pretty car, wish I had taken pics......
