Folks Of Interest Cherokee Rod Run was fun but the trip home sucked!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Oct 14, 2024.

  1. Having been in and out of the hospital several times this year I was looking forward to going to a show.

The Cherokee Run is a laid back show and they opened it up this year to help with donations for the hard hit areas of the folks in North Carolina with the enormous amounts of rain and flooding, the land slides and the trees that were down and some areas still don't have power 2 weeks later, I haven't heard what to cash donations were but I do know there were 6 truck loads, I trailer load and tow more loads this morning and Charles will make that announcement soon.

The car count was down due to the road closings, 441 lost most of the left lane in to the river in one area due to landslides, we traveled a one lane dirt road with a single car tunnel, rods were in bad shape.

I did my best to cull the photos trying my best to keep them on topic.

The name of the show was changed at the last minute.

  8. On the way home, we had to take a detour and were traveling some very rough roads, we were in somewhere in Georgia when the lane abruptly ended and a quick change had to be made a long with a quick stop, unfortunately my quick stop wasn't quick enough and my pal Mikes bumper suffered me bumping his truck, fortunately no one was hurt, if you don't count feelings, the wagon took the worst of the accident, the car stopped but all the excess gravel contributed to the accident, The Georgia Highway patrol officer found me a rollback to take the car and us home, can't drive with a busted radiator.

Brenda and I were unhurt although she was upset about her car, cars can be repaired.

It appears the bumper is toast, the splash apron is also, the bullet nose, the upper grille valance and trim are crunched, the fan & radiator, it could have been much worse.

Now I gotta start looking for parts.

  10. Thanks for the coverage, Danny!
Conflict with Heritage Days here and I had to participate, and missed another year.
Sorry to see the wagon got bent up. At least you and Brenda were OK.

So many gorgeous cars. That 64 Biscayne wagon is amazing. Of course the Studebaker and 55 Chevys always make me happy.

Sorry to see the damage to Brenda’s wagon, but as long as you two are uninjured the car can be fixed. One thing about what we all do - if you can restore it, you can always fix it.

Good to see that you have recuperated from your trials and tribulation’s, and are back out having “Fun With Cars”.

*** Won’t make Brenda feel any better, but better you were in the wagon and not your Deuce. Early car might not have fared so well.

Tough way to end a good day. Glad everyone is OK...but I wouldn't expect you'll be getting "lucky" until the wagon is fixed:eek:;)

  28. I just got off the phone with AMPAC Insurance and I couldn't have ask for a better conversation, they want me to find a legitimate shop in my area and take it to them, they need to take photos and send them to the adjuster and let them do the work, I explained I did the work on the car and he said I shouldn't have to do it again.

They are cutting me a check for the roll back ride, I'll keep everyone informed, I really do appreciate the positive thoughts for Brenda & myself, I'm sure I don't have to tell you guys Brenda & I are both sick about the accident, talking to the adjuster makes me feel better.

I'm sure I am still going to be looking for parts. HRP

  29. Did you look on The Ford Barn, late V8 for sale section for the parts that you need ?
