Chev rear in a 50 merc?

Finaly got my chopped 50, I am getting another frame with a nice graft. Is a 80 malibu type rear too narrow, I want to put the rearend with all the trailing arm junk in it. before I bag it. comments gladly accepted.

 

Got a tape measure? Put the wheels & tires you want to run on it, and measure it out.
