Got thìs heater core mounted under my dash in Chevrolet 54
Does this core belongs in a 54? I have searched around and it seems like they used the older rounder type.
    Anyone recognize it?
    It measures 10x70
Problem is its leaking, I believe the pipe is cracked, havent had time to leaktest it yet, but it aint in good shape, the sides are bulging, maybe its been frozen sometime.

Here's a couple of videos of retrofitting a new core - showing the original 54, which looks a lot like what you have. Not sure if the dimensions would be the same.....but the inlet and outlet appear to be.

  4. That's a 53/54 Chevy specific heater. Confusion comes from the fact they also were available with the earlier round style.

Chevy had "deluxe" heaters and "cheap" heaters. The cheap one was a round core and only recirculated air that was already in the car. The deluxe heater took in fresh air, and had the rectangular core.

so it's easy to get confused

If you look close at the brackets on the core, and the housing itself, you'll likely find stamped numbers showing the month and year it was made. Like " 5 54" or something.

before 1954 Chevrolets left the factory without a heater. ALL heaters were installed at the dealer.
