My Dad special ordered a '65 Impala SS like one in pic but, had one of the limited 409 motors. Chevy had a small quan***y of 64 409 motors available for 65. early 65 the 409 offer ended and 396 was the new big block. waited about 3 months and dealer called to tell us was in. Just detailing and could pick up next morning. at dealer said call was a mistake. it never showed up! joyfully would do deal for a 396 model. nope, went to Ford. figure buddy of dealer saw our 65 and bought from under us. many years later saw duplicate to our car at a show.
