    They were not adjustable.

don't be too quick to throw that fuel pressure regulator away, until you have your fuel delivery issues worked out. The last Autozone pump I ran was putting out 13 PSI

Hey Eric, definitely will not throw it away, it was a hefty $25 from autozone , so even if I don't use it I can keep it for another project...But I have heard the aftermarket pumps can have some high PSI.

Do you have fuel to and from the pump? Start there. If the car sat unused for some time, the fuel tank may have crud in it blocking your lines.....

Bowl vent? Isn't that the tube sticking out by the air filter stud? I see the metal plug also and know how they work, but I don't think it is needed in this case.

You might want to check for leaks in the exhaust manifold on the right side. If the tube that the choke is connected to has a crack in it, you will be ****ing sooty exhaust gas into the carb.

Whenever I pick up a car that's been sitting i hook up a little 2 gallon tank in the engine compartment and put new fuel lines, as of right now I took the regulator off and now everything seems to be functioning correctly. I think I may have a vaccuum issue somewhere as when I step on the throttle, it seems to want to die..either that or my fuel mixture screws are not correct...but car is not starving for fuel anymore...choke is functioning correctly so I will probably replace some hoses here soon..there is one big red hose out of the back of the carb i'm not sure where that goes, guessing from back of the block somewhere.

oh, i did have a question, what comes in that tube? hot exhaust, or just heat?

the tube from the manifold to the choke housing only delivers warm air, unless things are rusted away.

The big hose from the back of the carb should be the crankcase ventilation system....PCV valve in there somewhere, and a fitting at the back of the block that leads to a baffle in the valley, under the intake manifold.

It looks like the choke heat tube is tapped into the exhaust but when new the tube goes all the way through the exhaust manifold so that fresh air is drawn through the tube and the air inside is heated by the surrounding exhaust g***es. No exhaust g***es go into the carb. The tubes are fragile and rust off. They used to sell a repair kit to restore the function of the tube. The kit came with a woven sleeve (probably asbestos) to protect against burns.

I used a piece of steel brake line to repair mine once. Maybe not the best choice, but it worked.

I think it also helped insulate the tube to hold in more heat in the air on its way to the choke thermostat housing.

Appreciate all your help with this carb issue, but I have more questions on this. I think the carb is fine, but the car seems to die every time I put it in gear, it idles fine, choke is working.

Could this be a timing and/or vac*** issue? I haven't changed anything on the ignition system and haven't even pulled plugs.

Any help would be great, thanks

It needs to idle fine in gear, to be able to say "it idles fine". Maybe richen the idle mixture a bit, and raise the idle speed a little, so it doesn't die when you put it in gear.

It would be a good idea to check the timing at idle, both with the vacuum advance connected, and disconnected.
