i have a 76 chevy 250 with the integreted head, with non removable manifolds. my question. can i put an older 250 head on it? i have a 69 250 head, and want to use the motor in my next project, but i dont want to keep the ugly head that's on it. i want to split the intake and exhaust and hop it up a little. any help would be greatly apreciated. thanks, dave.
I have never done it, but many on here have. You can put a regular head on there. Inspect the cam carefully if you are not going to change it. I had 2 of those funny headed 250s chew up cams.
First Chevrolet had NO Business EVER manufacturing this Cast Iron piece of El- Krappa, uh the head . Get yer sef a old Head, quick before some Beuracrat tells ya ya can't cuz it ain't ORIGIONAL ! Yes, the Old Seperate head, manifold and exaust WAS BETTER . Ford and Chrysler had it , so why did Generic Motas think this wizz bang Valve burnin , no good carberator read expensive continue to embarr*** the poor mechanic who had to work on these pigs ? scrubba
yeah, the motor was rebuilt about 40k ago. but i will inspect it anyways when i regasket it. thanks for all the help guys. i'm putting it in my 37 dodge 4 door, with a t5 behind it. wanted a straight motor that would still pull my 26 foot airstream. the airstream only weighs 3200 lbs, and pulls like a landscaping trailer. and, since i wasnt able to sell the 250 on here. i am now going to use it. also, i was looking for fuel economy. this motor got consistend 20mpgs in a 76 nova with a th350. i am using the t5 for versatility pulling, and my own cool factor. i will gear the rear end around 3.73 probably, but that's still up in the air. thanks again.
