I have a 78 chevy 250. What are the pros and cons to this engine. I plan on installing it in my 48 international.
The only drawback is the one piece manifold and really it's not that big of a deal. You can always change the manifold later. The pros are that it should already have all of the brackets for ps, alt, and maybe even ac and electronic ignition. There is plenty of speed equipment available for Stovebolts. Just do a google search or seach it here on the HAMB. Good Luck!
pro its a great motor if your going the run a single pipe the manifold is ok but the non 2 pc is a plus, you can bolt up a 200r4 350 700r4 etc i run them in you early 50s chevys
All heads for the 194-230-250-292 swap, so look any inline that does not have the intake cast into the head. The exhaust manifolds are prone to cracks on the late heads. You won't gain much performance with other heads, you just can't add hot rod parts to the one piece setup you have. Joe
