Although I've put together a few cars in my time, I'm now I'm looking into the 55,56, or 57 Chevy truck lines. Can someone explain to me is there a Chevy 3100 series short bed and a long bed and still a 3100 series? What's the difference in a 3100 series long bed and a 3200?? Also, with a side spare tire, is this also considered a LONG BED only?? And if so, what series is it?? Thanks
welcome to the hamb. check out the social groups under the community tab above. you should find one for that era truck, and you will get an answer wuicker. good luck
Hey sorry for not getting back to you. as you can tell, I'm new to this HAMB and haven't really figured out how to send replys back. Again, sorry for the late communication.
the 3100 is a short wheel base (114 in) 1/2 ton the 3200 is a long wheel base (123.5 in) 1/2 ton the 3600 is a 3/4 ton long wheel base (123.5in) only some one probably swapped the badges on you. The rare one is the 3124 that is what is known as the Cameo only came in short wheelbase with panoramic rear window. check LMC here is a link it explain's everything. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/ca/t.aspx?Page=8 Also the spare tire on the fender is available on either long or short beds and it pretty much depends on your tastes I my self have a Long bed but I will be doing a conversion to short wheel base. I have a spare tire mount fender but am hunting one with out the spare tire.
