I have done a search and I can't find a straight answer. I have 1960 235 intake and exhaust manifold and I'm looking to find out if it will work on a 216 . Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
It fits, but not really. Port size is wrong, exh. flange aimed back instead of straight down. 216 parts are not that hard to find ....
There are conversion, intake manifold "rings/adapters" that have to be used for the slight mismatch in port size. I know they are used to install the 216 intake onto a 235; I guess they would also work to install the 235 intake onto a 216 (???). You can search on PugetSoundVintageChevrolet.Org to find the rings I'm referring to. ChevyTalk.Org is another site I've seen/read about the conversion rings/adapters. Not sure where you'd buy them however, but someone on ChevyTalk.Org will know; be sure to use the correct forum, ie, 49-54 Chevrolet. You also have to use BOTH intake/exhaust manifolds together, 216-216 or 235-235; can't use a 216 intake with a 235 exhaust or vise versa. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
Hmmm well that all makes sense and is good info ,thank you. I am trying to use what parts I've got to put a 2 barrel on my 216 . It's kind of a temporary thing while I gather cash and get the 235 through the machine shop and the parts I will need to rebuild it . Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
