For those of you who have replaced the rocker steps on your 55-59 Apache cab, or have seen a replacement step up close... Do the replacement steps come with a U-channel reinforcement on the underside or is this a separate part and what is it called? I have yet to find a picture of the bottom of one of these replacement panels and I want to make sure I order all the parts I'll need during my Christmas break from work. The reinforcement I'm talking about is in this borrowed picture: And if the new cab steps don't have a reinforcement, how well do they hold up? Do they feel flimsy or ok? thanks all
Yes they do, at least the set that I have in my shed do. Im not sure what company made them as I got them in a trade. They are pretty sturdy and built well.
The steps I bought from Brothers truck parts has the brace...chances are one company built the tooling and they all originate from the same repopper...
Yep they do. Sorry I didn't think to take a pic of the backside. Mine were from Brothers. And yeah, my 56 was a rusty POS but I like a challenge. Nobody that I could find makes the piece to the right of the door hinge pocket. I had to make those.
