Does anybody supply already machined 327 Chevy crankshaft dampers replace stock 59-AB Ford Flathead crank end assembly? Or do I just need to find a damper and look for a machine shop? I'd like the expensive rebuild to last a few years with occasional high rev runs.
    Thanks
    Abe

For a 59 type engine some things need to be considered:
    What vehicle?
    Is there room for one?
What pulley setup are you planning on using?
Yes, you will probably have to have one of your liking machined to fit.
It's a great idea, but may be difficult to accomplish.
I know they are made for the 8BA type engines (narrow belt setup)
    Is one necessary? IDK

I have a Fluid Dampner on an 8ba with the narrow belt. Reworked some pullys for the water pumps and run 1 belt with a GM alt.

  4. I did this on mine with a Powerbond balancer...cheap, effective and looks factory.

From memory the SBC balancer needed honing for a tight fit to the FH crank

  5. What is the reason for the damper? can someone show pics,I've got a
    8cm merc engine 1951,thanx Webb.
