My pad markings were lost in the block decking... I should have jotted them down first.

 

Man, the first liar ain't got a chance in this bunch. I've got one of those 6 bolt mains out in the garage holding up the corner of a work bench 'cause I don't have a 'Vette to put it in .

 

Mine has 6-bolt mains....

 

I've got an odd fire SBC with 7 bolt mains.

 

Yes, those radial sbc's always have an uneven number of mains.

 

Why the two bolt will never cause you a problem

 

Yep, I have yet to break a crank or main. Only cranks in SBC’s I have actually seen broken were in sprint cars. For anything I have ever done, two bolts have worked just fine. Chances of me checking it before I actually need it are slim.

 

I’ve broken cast big block cranks before.

 

I have subjected 2-bolt mains to some real abuse. Most guys I raced against scoured the earth for 4-bolt blocks.

 

While working in a machine shop I ran across two broken sbc cranks both were 283 cast small journal
