I was looking around for some photos of a g***ers and stumbled onto this picture... I know nothing about it, but it sure does look cool...
that is a great looking car... makes me wish I still had my old fleetline so I could use the 57 body I currently have to butcher up a roof!
I have a 1947 fleetline now and spent a good part of my childhood in a 1955 tri5 and would not go through all that work to have a **** rear window. Looks good but function has to come first with me. Its a ***** getting used to that small window.
What tri5 1955 1956 1957 thats 3 or tri5. Don't be a child either participate in the thread or don't comment.
I don't know much about the 55 but for sure that 57 isn't a model, so it makes me think that the concept (full size) could be plausible.
Interesting but the Fleetline roof just doesn't look right on the Tri Fives. Just because it can be done, doesn't always mean it should be done. That 54 concept looks better.
Yep, the original '55/Fleetline posted is a model (see this link for details), and the same guy built a model of the '57 version later as well. http://cs.scaleautomag.com/sca/modeling_subjects/f/35/t/76993.aspx The 1954 Corvair concept car had a Fleetline style fastback roof on a Corvette but I have never seen a GM produced concept using that roof on a '55. .
I guess i did it instead of chevy. I'm a carpenter not a English teacher. Excuse my spelling errors there will be more
...I did just that...a somewhat more Hamb Friendly Inspiration of John Poole's MotorRama Inspired quite some time ago as I look at it as a one off Concept or in fact a Custom and I was quite pleased with the outcome After the Haircut... It is interesting in the Vintage Ads for many of these Factory Autos the Artists actually did lower the tops perhaps with encouragement from their Superiors making for a more visually appealing look which may in fact aiding in sales and inspiring many in the World of Custom both at the Pro and every other level... I totally understand...I have experienced similar in my Chopped Sport Coupe...both Customs and Hotrods experience this depending on modifications... It's a reality all of us must accept and adjust to as the it often involves undoing engineered safety from the manufacturers...and if you can't, the Hamb might not be the best place to hangout. The last statement is directed to everyone...not specifically you Leadfoot...
