Need help on something I have little experience in. I'm trying to decide the clutch to use on my project. The engine is a Chevy 153 4 banger so it has the same SBC and inline chevy bellhousing. I know I can put either a 153 or 168 tooth flywheel on that motor and am leaning toward the 168 for the extra rotating mass. The 168 tooth I have on hand is only drilled for the 11" clutch cover. But I'm leaning toward getting another 168 tooth flywheel that is drilled for both 11 and 10.5" clutch covers. This way I can put on a 10.5" clutch which might work out a bit better on such a lightweight vehicle with only 90 or so horsepower. But in my research, I have found that a number of chevy applications show a 10" clutch cover. What I'm not sure about is if the Chevy 10" clutch is still going to mount up to the flywheel that is drilled for a 10.5" clutch cover. Are they all the same for mounting points? I know there is a difference between the 11 and 10.5 but have no idea if the 10 and 10.5 are the same or different in how they mount up to the flywheel. The set up I'm now leaning towards is a 10" clutch cover. I just need to know if it will bolt up to a 153/168 tooth flywheel or if there is another bolt pattern specific to the 10" clutch. This is the last piece of the puzzle for me as I put together the clutch package. If I haven't explained it properly, I'll try to clarify. The pressure plate I'm looking at is the Sachs BBC1874. It fits a variety of rigs, inlines, sbc etc. But it says it fits both 10 and 10.5" systems. I'd like to couple it with a Speedway disc- a 10" disc set up for a flathead to T5 conversion with 1" diameter and 14 teeth. They sell it for the flathead ford but guys have used it for the T5 to chevy conversion as well. Summit also has a Mcleod 10.5 disc for that conversion, but I would prefer the 10". engine: 153 Chevy bell: cast iron from early 60s truck with 3 hole starter flywheel: 153 or 168 tooth with both 11 and 10.5 bolt patterns cover: Sachs 10" disc: Speedway 10" with 1" dia and 14 spline hub TO bearing: I'll measure for it and buy separately Transmission: T5 from '89 S10
