Hi everyone, would appreciate if anyone could tell me what years Chevy steering wheel/column splines are the same? Also, what years other G.M. cars splines would interchange with Chevy. I have a 56 Chevy truck and I'am looking for and prefer an older flater style steering wheel.... THANKS.... Frank-Ol Skooler :)

Easiest way to answer that one is to find an old Grant or Superior application guide and start comparing numbers but "most" '55 through at least the 80's GM steering wheels will interchange. I know a wheel from a '90 Lumina will fit on a '76 Monte carlo and a wheel from a '70 camaro will fit on a '62 Impala and a steering wheel kit for a '55 Chevy works on a '67 GTO, A 1981 Camaro wheel will work on a '72 chevelle, etc.

  3. I know a 53 Chevy wheel will fit a column all the way into the 70's. I'm not sure when they started with splined shafts, but I'd bet they were standard for a long time.

for sure from 53 to 94 is the same, in 95 they went to havin air bags in the wheel and it all changed then. My 94 S10 runs a 59 impala steering wheel in it, with no problems at all.
