are all chevy heads interchangable? can i put 350 or 327 heads on a 307? is the bolt patern the same??
yes, they are the same bolt pattern....but there are differences in valve size and combustion camber volume
they are all the same, but you will actually hurt performance with a set of big chamber, big runner sbc heads. A set of camel humps wont do you as much good on the 307 as a set of MOnte Carlo ss 305 heads. look for a mid 80's one. they have a decent runner and valve size and a little chamber for more compression. Anywys if it is one less 80's Monte ss i have to ever see, im all for it.
Real early heads, 55-61 I believe, have a staggered valve cover bolt pattern. Late heads, 87-up, have the 2 bolt cover and vertical center bolts for the late intake. SB 400 heads have additional holes in the center as steam p***ages. They will all bolt on with the correct bolts. The biggest issue will be combustion chamber size, though. Make sure you know what heads you have or your ratio could go way up or way down, maybe even have piston clearance problems depending on what you're running.
307 with a small bore may have valve interference probs, if you go w big heads. 1.94 valves may be ok tho..
1.94s will definitely clear on a 307 although, depending on what RPM range you want to make power in, small valve heads may be better for you.
