I think SBC rockers will work, but the ratio and geometry is a little different. The rockers for the 6cyls will work, since they are basically most of a 6cyl

I think you would be going backwards with a SBC rocker .

I seem to recall the midget guys running BBC rollers on these back in the day .

Agreed. I’m personally not going to change anything. Someone told me to run a higher ratio rocker with the marine cam in my boat derived engine. But it runs the way is

Yes they are 1.75 like their six cylinder big brothers. The 153 is 2/3 of a 230 six. Some have used the 1.7 big block rockers.

Thanks for the rocker info. I tried sbc rollers, but they were too short from the stud to the tip of the valve. BBC is longer but I don't have one to check. I will see if I can borrow one to check. Also, thanks for the links to some for sale!

The 194-292 were designed using sbc parts. the 292 not as much as 194-250. The valve rocker geometry is very different from the v8s. The 4 & 6s use 1.75 ratio rocker. Som have used big block rollers but they are 1.7 and all cams are ground to 1.75 specs. When I had Erson grind my cam I had a set of big block 1.7 roller rockers. So that was figured into the grind. I have the original profile sheets for 3 grinds but when the cam came the specs are shown for 1.75. Funny but I have never compared them. The engine is still un-built.
