Does there exist an adapter that would let me couple a Chevy II 4-Banger to my Model A Bell housing?? I currently have an F-150 OD ****** behind the Model A Bell housing. Thanks for any ideas, or suggestions.

Is there a reason you want to keep the Model A bellhousing?

The Chevy II 4 cylinders had the small block Chevy V-8 pattern, so any Chevrolet Automatic Overdrive (200r4, 700r4) should work provided they aren't computer controlled.

  3. I have been fooling with the Chevy II bangers since I had one in a Chevy II car back in the sixties. I currently have a 181 inch Mercruiser Marine in my '32 Ford roadster using a '39 trans. I have never heard of the adapter you are asking about.

Aren't they the same as a Chev V8 or 63 up six?

I need to keep the Model A bell housing as the clutch and brake shaft is already set up and works well with my F-150 4 spd OD transmission.

An adapter for a Chevy V8 to early ford will work since the bolt pattern on the back of the block is the same as the v-8's. The 4 banger also uses the same flywheel as the internally balanced v-8's such as 265, 283, 327, early 350.
