I guess I can add this heap. My '64 sedan is now into its 5th year apart. Getting a V-8 transplant, better brakes, new wiring and an interior upgrade. The body/paint will stay as is for now, eventually I will go back to the original Polar White. Here's the new guy in the engine room. Has yet to be fired, but soon..... BTW, if any of you guys have a bench seat, column shift sedan like mine and want some moderately-used driver quality dark blue carpeting, send me a PM. Pay the shipping and it's yours.
Always liked these. 1st car we bought my son in 1980 was a 65 wagon with a 283 and a glide for $700. He drove it a long time. We also had a red 66 SS with a 406 small block that I really miss.
Hello, Back in high school,(circa 1962, fall of 1961) one friend had a new brown Chevy II coupe. The color is listed as maroon, but in real sunlight, it was a Root Beer, brownish color. His 2 door hardtop had the look of a cruiser and his small 4 cylinder was absolutely slow and plodding. His car looked cool and fast, but with 4 big teenagers in the seats, the height automatically lowered an inch or two. The stock springs were not the heavy duty ones that were options on the larger cars. There was no need to get the car lowered, it just went to the "lowered mode" when those (we) teenagers got in their (our) seats. It gave off the low, custom look when driving around the restaurant parking lots. No Friday/Saturday night drag races for this car. If he did race, our other friend had a 6 cylinder 53 Chevy 2 door hardtop and that, became a race. It was a slow one at that. The race was one where everyone in each car was making a “scooting forward” motion to get the car going faster. Ha ! But, it was a car that got us places like the drive-in theaters, Big Bear Lake and the beaches. It was my friend’s first car, so he did not care if it was a fast hot rod or full size cruiser. It just took us everywhere as a car. Remember the feeling of getting your first car and the opportunities it offered? Jnaki The cool thing was that with all of the windows rolled down, it was a huge opening. A windows down, hardtop, cruiser for all adventures, even with a 9 foot 6 inch surfboard with a red flag, stuck in the trunk. (yes, the rear seat back was taken out...)
Since were in the mood for some race cars here’s one Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thanks Flamed48 for posting my 64 wagon (the patinaed blue one without the hood) ... the hood is now on with louvers.
