I put a dual single manifold and a set of fentons on my 216. Now it stumbles really bad and sounds like misfires. Im ***uming that it is misfiring because of the lack of a heat plate. I dont have one on there. The intake gets really cold after a few minutes of running, fuel is not atomizing? Is fuel puddling up in the center of the intake causing a rich situation in the center cylinders and lean on the edge cylinders? Even though it is not cold out, would I still need a heat plate?
I've got a set of Fentons on my 54 Chev w/ the heat plate. It runs alot better with the heat plate. Without it the fuel doesn't atomize properly. The stock manifolds had the heat riser, and when you put the Fentons on it eliminates it. Spend the money and get the heat plate kit. I think it's well worth it.
or make one using water heat. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5213&highlight=heat+plate+fentons http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41622&highlight=heat+plate+fentons the general consensus is, use one.
