I have an inline 6 cylinder engine that specs out as a 1972 250 ci engine that came out of my C-10 pickup. I was just curious about its performance potential, because here in the south there are tall tales about how these motors can be "built" to run very fast...some to the point of out running modified sbc's...any input would be greatly appreciated..thanks
Yes there was and still may be- it was called Clifford Research, I remember that much. You can try a websearch and see if they are still around. Gary 4T950 Chevy Guy
Hello I have a 250 CI inline chevy puts out about 350 HP high compression, cam 3-1 manifold headers. 4 speed never been ran. They use to have a stock car class around here 20 years ago with inliners required. By the way I could be talked into selling this engine I have $2500 into it make me an offer???
Inliners.org will help with all brands of straight sixes, The 250 Chevy is one of the better platforms to start with. The sound of a split exhaust 6 is something you just cannot explain good luck old spoke
If you've got the bucks you can make over 500 hp out of a 250 ci. 300-350 will cost about the same as if you were building the same horses out of a SBC. I oval track a 250. 60 over flattops, Eagle H-beams, Good cam, Clifford 4 bbl intake, Predator carb, Ported heads, bigger valves, Crane roller rockers. But like all, the more you go the eaisler to blow. I've had a cam break the thrust plate and launch through the timming cover, due to instance rpm change. And have thrown stock rods (my mistake) through the side of the block.
