Actually, they are the PERFECT wheel, assuming they are cheap enough, to run full hubcaps on. Just make sure you've got an extra cap in case you lose one on the way to wherever you are headed. They also work extremely well as spares!

No Derby Caps - No trim rings - only poverty caps, can be a decent looking steel wheel

Only look good to me in custom widths, if youre buying them you might as well go with the 6 slot Dodge police ralleye with whatever bolt pattern you need so they dont look like chevy ralleyes.

I guess I dont like them at all

So what is "old school"? This car was built between 74 & 79. The only after market parts on it are the disc brake adaptors. The Mustang II suspension was put on before you could buy rotors with Ford/Chevy bolt pattern. Had to send them to Progressive Automotive to be plugged and drilled. Every part and piece from the 351C to the Granada rear was junk yard found.

The wheels were sand blasted and painted in 1978, been on the car since, I have raised a family in it, put 135K on it (serious need of a rebuild) and it still looks good. Forgot, repainted the body after putting in a third eye brake light under the back window after the ol lady got rear ended by a butt head.

For those that have a different opinion, remember every body has one and just like every body's butt they mostly stink and I could really give a #### less if anybody like the wheels or not!

It's not what is old school it's about traditional, and as far as this board goes it's about early to mid 60's and earlier... Maybe Read This First! Those wheels definitely give your car a late 70's vibe. Cool for you, not really what this place is about.

Ralleys are ugly??? how about that really stupid looking spun alum spare wheel from some late model Lincoln that soooo many "traditionalists" are after???

I'd put Ralleys on damn near anything I own if they would fit, because it's MY car and my opinion is the only one I care about.

These are my wheels that I just painted. Traditional or not-I LIKE THEM. They were free, they work, and I dont have to rub them with a diaper or cry about how much I paid for them when they get knicked or begin to rust. I can change the color/hub/trim rings any time I choose unlike a torque thrust that looks like a torque thrust any way you do it. Bottom line-dont give a chit about what peple like on MY CAR.

Zman given you didn't define "old school", or "traditional" for that matter, I'm going to have to guess you are referring to what was the standard during the 50s and the 60s. That would eliminate anybody that doesn't currently have a 32 or 40 Ford (2 doors only) or a 49 - 51 Mercury from being involved with or having a valid comment or position on this board. Those were the "traditional" hot rods and were generally the only aceptable "cool" hot rod to have. The "hot thing" was black wheels, thin white walls, chrome lug nuts (high dollar option), coon tails on the antenna, a reverb and "straight pipes" on a 58 Chevy and the rest of us dreamed about the cars that were featured in the little pages and later Hot Rod. The "tri-five Chevies" weren't even in the picture yet!

So, what is it? Guys that love cars and like to modify them or just the "Traditionalist"?

    Actually...

How it was then, as in 60's style, 50's style, 40's style etc. Not 70's style or 80's style. You've been here for long enough you should have a clue. You should of also read the link in there...

  15. Dude, you have a chopped and channeled, fenderless Model A. Nobody should be running Rallys on that combination. If your car was a 70's resto rod with apple green body and black fenders, cowl lights and stock bumpers with the black leather luggage on back..that would be fine with rallys.

Your car with the rallys is the equivalant of a 2010 Camaro with wide whites and 49 ford wheels.

Fricken Hot Rod magazine started all this PC, don't dare to offend, dare to be different bullcrap. Worst trend that has hit this hobby.

I call it like it see it.

It seems like on this board you may be the one with the bad wiring. Rally's belong on Chevelles and Camaros

No doubt this is a good-looking delivery, and the Rallys are so un-Rally-like as to be very inoffensive. They sort of split the difference between the OE 6-lug steel wheels and '37 hubcaps and the hideous, argent-silver-and-derby-cap Rally wheels that every tri-five and fat-fender Chevy wore in the '80s.

I'd still like it better with the '30s wheels, though.

I like Chevy Rallies a whole lot more than gazillion inch chrome whiz-bang rims, but that's just me. I wouldn't put either on my car, though.

  23. Exactly! When I bought [Ok, traded my 68 GTO for it] my 57 Bel Air it already had a set of ralleye's on it complete with rings and caps. This was in 1971 AND...it had headers and purple hornies with a 283, muncie 4 speed/hurst linkage. Like about 80 million other 55-57s of the day on the west coast

you wouldnt put grape jelly on a hot dog, and you wouldnt put some rally's on a hot rod. there's my 2 cents. haha
