Chevy Starter Wiring Help

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Mike in Tulsa, Aug 26, 2010.

  1. On my 51 GMC - 261 Inline 6 - 200 4r trans - I'm using this wiring diagram(I got on here - can't remember from who)... My question is... what goes where? My starter has the big center terminal - I connected the battery to it - and the "r" and "s" terminals. I think I connect the starter switch to the "s" terminal, but what goes to the "r" terminal? I'm lost here. I'm running points and condenser and a push button switch. Any help is appreciated. I searched but I only got more confused!!!

The r side terminal goes to the ballast resistor to give you a full 12 volts while cranking if your using point you must use a balast resistor in between your ignition switch and your coil................. Hope this will help..................
