There are 5 cars that the owners widow wants to sell that I might be interested in.

    1953 Chevy 2dr Sedan
    1953 Plymouth 2dr Sedan
1964 Impala SS with a crazy 60s interior
    1937 Chrysler
    1963 T-Bird

The T-Bird looks to be running and a older restoration but is quite clean.
All the other cars look like they have been sitting for many years and appear to be original, complete and really rust and damage free. They are in a dry building with a concrete floor.

How the undersides look, if the engines and brakes are siezed from sitting etc. is not known at this time.
It is also not known at this time if there are titles to them.

Im still working on getting the details and what the owners widow would like to get for them.
Hopefully the owner dosent watch Barrett-Jackson and think they are worth a fortune like so many do.

There is also a few of other cars there also that I am not interested in.
Later model Jag, Mercedes Benz, Gazelle kit car that are all running.

No titles will greatly impact the value, but assuming there are titles to the cars, what do you guys think the cars are worth as they sit.

$1,000,000 - Give or take a $1,000,000 - seriously, your looking at buying a group of cars to presumably flip and you want "us" to appraise them off some crappy cell phone pics and loose description? Do "we" get a cut of any profit that you make? Please do your own homework and dont waste "our" time - threads like this SUCK

  4. I'd say every car would be worth 3 to 5k, solid, not running........all two doors......having said that......people will pay anything for the right chance to own the right car. Sky's the limit. Who knows ? Auction does. Always will too. Good luck.

Assuming titles, I think I would offer 20K. (just throwing that out there as a quick guess)

Im thinking the 4 unrestored cars are $1000.00 cars each or less and the T-Bird maybe a $8500.00- $10,000.00 car. Maybe I am way off base? Not sure.

This woman does not want to sell them one by one. She doesnt want to deal with people coming and going and if she cant sell them all at once, who knows what the fate of the cars will be.

There will be considerable expense in time to get them out of the building and then to transport them and then to clean them up, make them rolling etc, and figure out where Im going to put them.

I may be interested in keeping one of them but not all. I have too many cars now.

Making them roadworthy to sell is probably an expense I wont re-coop. I would most likley resell them in a presentable condition but not running.

It seems the amount of replies flaming people for asking simple questions has really gone down in the past year on this site and its made it a nicer place to visit. This guy asked a simple question like many folks do on this site to get help from people who may know about the various cars he listed. I find it interesting seeing the different cars and didn't see anyone else having a problem with his post. The guy found what could be a good score for him and maybe other HAMBERs. If you don't like these threads, don't read them.

  14. Hi Bill,

The Impala looks cool - different interior to be sure.

Cars do not look to be going anywhere - if you do not have adequate interior storage
to get them running & work on them - leave them sit until the Spring.

Can't help you with cost - it depends on title status & whether they run or not.

    Nice find though !

If you can get them for 3 to 5k each depending on titles that would be a steal. Man that 37 is beautiful. Just a little sanding, clear coat it and I'd be in heaven! Thanks for the barn find photos!

The photos were not taken with a cell phone. Heck, I still have a flip phone that dosent take pictures!

The lighting was not very good inside the building. I can actually see the cars better in the photos due to the flash.

I was not able to look in the trunks of the cars due to the keys were not in the cars. Who knows maybe Jimmy Hoffa is in one of them?

We first heard about these cars about 3 months ago and until just recently we were allowed to get into the building to view the cars. Im trying to get the widow to put some kind of price on the cars to get an idea of what she thinks they are worth. I dont want to make an offer for the cars that may be taken as an insult to her, if she thinks there are more valuable than they are.

She did have someone start trying to get them going to sell them, then decided it would cost too much in time and money and stopped.

As details progress, I will keep the post updated.

Thanks guys for the positive words against the complainers about the post.

Dude....really? What if you were on the sellin' end of that deal? That '64 alone is $5K all day long in most circles, and maybe more depending on particulars.

From what we had heard, most of the cars have been sitting for more than 40 years or more, other than for the T-Bird.
What we dont know is how they were maintained, or if at all. They are in an unheated building.
Given that, did they have anti freeze in them or water? Are the engines free? Fuel and brake systems are likley shot. Some tires will have to be replaced (even if the replacements are used tires) just to make the cars moveable. There is a lot of unknown in purchasing these cars that could impact the value of them.

That all has to be taken into account in the values of the cars. Just to make them roadworthy will gobble up quite a bit of cash.

Maybe the 64 Impala SS has more value, due to the muscle car craze crowd, but they wont be a fan of the 60s custom interior. Although that car is very solid and mostly complete, it need a full restoration.

The 37 Chrysler is also very solid, original and complete. The interior is completely trashed from mice and rats. Probably would be a good candidate for a Hot Rod. A restoration on this car back to original would cost a small fortune.

The 53 Chevy and 53 Plymouth are also very solid, original and complete as well, and in better condition than the Impala SS, and would also be good candidates for a Hot Rod or Original. These cars are not high dollar cars but are cool nevertheless.

The T-Bird is in the best condition of them all and from the looks of it, it would not need much to prepare it to sell. Mainly spit and polish.

I am not going to pay end user prices for the cars, as I am in the vintage car business of repairing them and restoring them. I know the costs to make these cars drivable because I deal with it every day. What I am not in, is buying and selling cars on a regular basis. Thats why Im looking for opinions.

I am not looking to make a killing on the cars but I dont want to loose money in the deal or just break even. There has to be some profit in the venture to pay for time and expenses.

Are you looking for buyers right off the bat? Maybe turn 1 or 2 cars as they sit then you deal with the rest? If you've got a shop I'd think you have enough contacts to flip them quickly maybe do 1 or more for a paying customer. IM me with your plans for the 64 Imp, I can ask around my friends in Chicagoland and central il, I'm not looking for any angles on this, would just like to see the deal happen and maybe get a friend into a good project car. Everything but the 37 Chrysler should resell quickly.

  27. I don't mind the 64 interior. Looks like it was quality material and has held up well. Interesting the plymouth has similar diamond pleated upholstery.

I am no expert, but would gladly pay ~$5-6000 for that '64 Chevy.
    The T-Bird I would guess at ~$8000
    The old Chrysler...~$1200
The Chevy and Plymouth....~$1500 to 2000 each.
    And that is without titles.
Those are some really solid looking nice cars...not a whole lot of them left like this in a dry storage status.
Good luck..and keep us in the loop.
If you don't buy that '64 Chevy...let me know. :)

53-54 Chevy's are popular. With a title I'd pay 4k for that one even if it was locked up.
