I for one would love to have this hot rod back in Dearborn at the Henry Ford Museum... And parked next to the first Mustang to roll off the ***embly line... The car would be in good hands there....

the fins were not as nearly strange as the ******** was that appeared on the center of the blower pulley. you can see this when the 32 was on the cover of hotrod magazine in july of 1961.

Some really disappointing posts, considering we are all
supposed to be "car guys" that cut each other a lot of
slack, just look at the PURE JUNK that is on a lot of these
    posts.
If, as someone suggested, he would put a 32 grill shell on
it, no one would have ever heard of this car.
Basically, all you have to do is look at a lot of the people
who are posting such negative remarks and you understand.
    Just check out their AVATARS

Hmmm, A two year old post brought back up and no one has anything actually new to say about this. Look, It was a 60's Show Rod built to that standard and it became Iconic for various reason. It is what it is, and if you don't like it it doesn't really matter to anyone but you. It is a frozen time capsule that should never be changed for a glimpse of that era to those too young to have lived it and a reminder of a crazy time to those of us who did. LET IT GO!

Man,I dig the hell out of the car and I'd rather look at it all day long than a field full of satin black 32s. It's inventive, it's creative, and instantly recognisable. But then, as far as I'm concerned late 50s and early 60s hot/show rods are where it's at, along with Kustoms of the same era. Sorry guys, but in my opinion, and remember it's only my opinion, there was a hell of a lot of blandness on the scene before cars like this came along. To me it stands out in its day as iconic, in the same way as the takeout T, the atomic punk and El Tiki do nowadays. Sometimes I feel like if I see another flat black car I'll hurl!

  12. That car is so ****ing awesome I just don't know how to express it

That car is such an icon, and being on a Beach Boys album cover it brought hotrods to so many kids around the world who had never seen anything like it:pI am always amazed when some of these absolute cl***ics get such a panning;:confused:What's not to like?

    Me,I know nothing except;
    a) what I like.
    b) personal taste and public opinion are very often at odds with each other.
    c) neither are necessarily right or wrong.

Anytime that someone says something that is untrue, and states it as fact, I have to respond.
I was involved with the car and in respect to my friend, I will always correct something that is not true.
The list of coverage and accomplishments is history, and it was all done by a young teenager just starting out in this hobby. He went on to a successful career and his restored car is in the loving hands of a family that loved him.
    Good job, Chili

I agree that it is a Hot Rod Icon, however the this OLD thread started out asking for opinions and I gave mine. I really like time capsule Hot Rods just think that is more of a Custom and I was never into open wheeled customs, Incredible car, just not my taste. Thanks for letting me have an opinion:rolleyes: F**king opinion police:confused:

Regardless, it is simply a custom rod icon. Like the AlaKart and the Emporer and many other show rods. They can not be judged against the timeless design of many cl***ic hot rods. It is remembered because of it's side and grill treatment. A cl***ic styled deuce coupe on the Beach Boys album would have been forgotten decades ago. No one would remember or care whose car was on the album cover.

I think it was a kool kustom, with a lot of nice work on it.

  19. Lets see 3 year old thread, has my opinion changed? Nope, car is still fugly.

Some things stand the test of time, some things dont.

And some stuff was **** to begin with (for me, that would be Beach Boys music...)

This car is still cool to me ( despite the Beach Boys connection :D )

You must be a Beatles fan. The Beach Boys music certainly is not ****, Paul McCartney's favorite song is God Only Knows...and Pet Sounds is one of the greatest selling records of all time...but you are right, some stuff was **** to begin with...like your opinion.

Oh yea, this topic's for Little Deuce Coupe's fins... I like them, it took a while to accept, but the history of show rods and wild concepts slowly changed my tune. I feel you gotta at least respect the history behind this car. It's nice in person too, seen it at Pittsburgh's World of Wheels a few years ago....and it's Olds powered...can't go wrong there!:D

  23. NICE......first thing outa the box and ya gotta go after a mod,WTF ??? oh yeah ya might wanna read the way things are done here and post a decent intro...........and I like beachboys, beatles, monkees and anything pre-kurt cobain, and with out a doubt showrods
