It's cool, There has been a lot of attempts in the past to say negative things about Chip ,... And I get a little defensive about it, (usually from guys that have never met him) ... because he really is a great guy, that loves all styles of cars,... and all kinds of car people. As far as the beer goes,.... Well, I don't drink. But, if you ever find yourself in Michigan,.. look me up, I buy you a cup of coffee.
Guys come on, Chip Foose is good hands down. I doubt any of you bad talkers would say that to his face.
I'd have NO problem owning and driving a Foose-built car. The dude has serious talent and sense of style.
Harms Ways... I grew up in Northern Ontario (Sudbury), left there with my parents in '72 and never went back. May go back someday to vist long lost reletives in Ontario, if I do I may take you up on that coffee. Same offer to you if you ever vist the left coast of Canada. Anyways...to all, I was not putting Chip Floose down. He is a graet craftsman and a great car builder. I am sorry to all that took any offence to any comments I made about him.
HEY CAR CAST......... Chip Foose is a talented/cool guy, but the H.A.M.B. is not for advertising your TV show..
This would be a perfect time for us to all hold hands in a circle and sing "Kumbaya" Anybody with me ?,.....: Anybody ???????
just remembered why i hardly ever come on here but i know i dont need to come on here to see a bunch of people argue if one of the most stand up guys in the industry who has more talent in one of his old finger nail clippings than most of the people on here including myself. i met chip foose in luisiville a couple years back stood four hours in line and when we were 5 people from the front he was spossed to leave for a meeting with edlebrock. he told them that he was there for the fans and stood there for three more hours drawing pictures and signing autographs for anyone who was willing to stand in line. so who cares if the guy is into "traditional rods" or not but chip foose has done more for the street rodding in general than than anyone on hear bitching about him.... o and by the way thanks for the profile pic chip....
I don't know Chip personally, and he may not be "traditional", but with his talent, attitude, and the way he treats people, I'm a fan. He's definitely a person you can learn from.
You're one of those guys who gets all nutted up over names and labels, huh? So explain this to me... in all of the literature from Chevrolet on Novas... and dealership documents I have... how come they list a "4 door station wagon" under cars that were called Novas? And if they aren't Novas... what are they? Also, an Acadian is just a Nova or Chevy II with a different grille. There was a conspiracy in the 60's for the United States to annex Canada like we did Hawaii and that other place up North... uh, Alaska... Our government made GM sell a bunch of cars in Canada and disguized them as Canadian designed, engineered and built automobiles. It was a part of a diabolical plan to brain wash Canadians into thinking they could engineer and build something. Alas, it didn't work... seems the French foiled the plan... They traded the US government something like thirty seven thousand AME rifles to finally pull out of the deal. The French guns were perported to have "Never been fired and only dropped once". The US wanted to trade the guns for the rights to the re-badged Novas and Chevelles... and then keep selling them cars to pass off to the Canadian people as their own. Once they had all these Chevy cars, and no guns... the plan was to pull the plug on selling the cars, and then let them all rust away. The plan partially worked... as all that seems to be left of those Canadian Chevrolets are the grille shells. True story. Sam
Oh... and I'm just joking... my Canadian friends know that! Shit... every day I drive a car that was built in Canada... sSam
i like trad hot rods, but im always up to watching overhaulin because its just cool. ill never be a "chip" but i love seeing cool rides built right in front of my eyes. the black tourer with the red checked firewall was about the only hot rod i saw built, but then things can be a little slow gettin down here. like him or not, he must have a pretty cool life and has hot rodding in his blood.
Nice videos and thanks for sharing, but it occured to me that the Adam-fellow, by the way he was asking the questions, didn't 'appear' to be all that genuinely interested during the clip. Not saying he wasn't, but it seemed to me at times. Adam seemed more concerned about what his next line would be, rather than actually reacting on what Chip had just said. I can understand if you prepare for an interview that you'll want to have a number of questions ready and you'll also make a few up during the conversation depending on what comes up, but I think it was a bit distracting at times here. At some times Adam interrupted Chip with a new question just when Chip was about to start a new sentence probably trying to explain why he done something the way he did. Still, thanks for letting me have a peek in Foose's shop. I never get bored listening or seeing Chip sharing information about his work and projects.
I got nothing against Chip Foose. He was a likable guy when I visited his shop a couple years ago. Had a bunch of projects going on at once. Some HAMB friendly and the rest not. But who cares. Talent is talent. I can appreciate any and all cars!! Even though the HAMB might frown on a badass 67 Camaro I can still dig it if its done right. The man has to pay his bills and and if someone wants him to build a blown Yugo I bet he would start sketching.
ya know i've sit here & listened to you guys piss & moan about "traditional hot rods" for a couple of years now and just blew it off. well its time to say what i think, i think if a person is saving another old car from the crusher its fuggin great ! so what if its not what "YOU" like or what "YOU" think it oughta look like, he or she spent a ton of time doing it and is keeping hot rodding alive and now its on tv to get it out in front of more people and maybe get more interested in it too. think about it, the more people building cars the more people we have on our side against any future legislation trying to outlaw hot rods. so quit bitchin about what kind of hot rod or rat rod or street rod or custom or sled or muscle car or antique or any other kind of car and be glad someone is still keeping cars that are modified in any way on the road. todd p.s. leave chip alone
Hey, traditional or not I think it was cool. Chip is a very talented guy, and I'm sure a lot of people wish they were that good.
I think I have to side with the "not traditional" side. Foose's stuff is not my cup of tea. He may have built a couple cool cars that sort of fit here...but all and all most look like the 90s to me...two tone paint and big wheels. More like Hotrod magazine stuff. I think Foose fits here about like OCC would fit at The Jockey Journal.
Chip. The man is living his dream. You have gotta love that. Alot of talent and alot of exposure over the years. A household name-FOOSE- that stands for nothin but the best. But for some reason- SAM is the man I admire more, even though I`ve never met him.
I think most people who have actually met Foose, regardless of their predisposition toward him, would come away with a similar story. I watched for an hour in line while he took the time to visit with everyone, sign absolutely everything they brought or bought for him to sign, take pics, etc. During the two or three minute conversation I had with him he whipped off this on my glovebox door... Thanks, Chip!
i always wanted a mid 60's car done by him. shop is not what i pictured but man the work speaks for itself.
Foose is probably saying "whats a HAMB?" The guy is so talented its scary - I'd be glad to be the custodian at his shop just so I could hang around.
