    Good evening

Is the knob in the picture the choke? Trying to figure out if the car came with auto or manual choke.

    Thanks in advance

  2. I would guess that is the headlight switch. I recognize that as a Chevrolet, but what year and model?

Not too hard to figure out, take the air cleaner off and see if a cable goes to the choke. If so follow the cable back to the dash.

If I remember correctly the choke and throttle controls were mounted below the center of the dash...I had a 48 and can't remember for sure regarding the throttle cable but I remember early 50's chevy pickups had a throttle cable too, probably for when a power takeoff was used.

48 Cars if that is a 48 (it's always best to give info on what vehicle you are asking about as to year, model and engine size) had a manual choke. Screenshot (2030).png

By all rights and regulations the knob next to the key should be the choke knob. Screenshot (2032).jpg

  8. If you suspect that you will have to put in a new carb, you probably can make it either way.
