Thanks guys. I have alot of work ahead of me but I have alot of help. Keep the chops coming! ******Knuckles
Fixin' to start on mine again once the mess from the renters is cleaned up...(long story) "You can't chop a '49 chevy ten inches," I was told... Yes, you can, but I don't reccommend it. NOT for the faint of heart... That's my son peeking out the mail-slot... The steering wheel is higher than the top of the windshield, which is DEFINITELY not as tall as a dollar bill is long... And there's sectioning of the cab to be done too... When I posted my drawing of "the nightmare truck," I wasn't kidding, it's a nightmare! I hate that my projects take forever...if I could get down to just ONE, maybe I could get some of them to that eternally "never finished but driveable" stage (sigh)
I have to have some fun with the previous post about Virginia. Hack from Virginia? I don't know him, but I have to reply. In fun and truth. I am from Virginia originally. I have never seen so many hacks as there are in the hot rod mecca of the world, LA. Whether at local shows or very well known / famous builders ( I don't name names ). I think 90% of the hacks are in LA. The cars in VA are fairly solid. I remember when I first moved to LA seeing work at shows and by famous builders that would never come out of but the very worst shops in VA, and then they would be out of business by the end of the month. Cars that are paraded around LA would never be shown the light of day in VA, because Virginians still have this thing that people in LA have never heard of, shame. And man does LA need a big dose of it in about all aspects. All that glitters is not gold. Having fun. Wil www.sakowskimotors.com
wow! you definately pushed the too far ****on on that one. so I guess a 32" shifter is out of the question
******Knuckles, That is the best looking Plymouth I've ever seen. Plus it's unique. I don't see too many of those except for bone stock. Here's a pic of where mine is at. doesn't show much but i love the angle.
Irs30, if I do another truck I will do the rear windo like that, and did you leave the doors in to help align the roof properly?
Here's my 41 Ford getting chopped.....I don't have the skills for this job, so all the credit goes to Laurie Peterson(ratstu)and his brother Jeff....
Man that is one of the nicest chop profiles I have ever seen on a Merc. Very nice work! Flop, that too is a sweet chop. Post a link to the thread it was chopped in. Show everyone just how nice it is and how small the space was you did it in!! Doc.
Yhea we left the doors in was easier in the long run...The reason we did the back window that way is I like the looks of it lowered and chopped rather than chopped makes the bocy lines a little smoother.. I'll post some more once we get closer, I've been recovering from a 2 level spinal fusion,so no garage sessions for me.
wow that is some serious spinal work! hope you recover well, no rush on those pics, and thanks for your input
Me (20 years ago )with my tools in hand ready to take 3 1/2 inches out of my 5W. Note tape marks on front posts and doors.
Well...the job's almost done....I can't say enough about Laurie Peterson (ratstu),and his brother Jeff...these guys have done a great job....lots of hard work, and It takes a really good eye to get it right....I'm really stoked about the Quarter gl***...the angle of the "B" pillar....the no-draft windows....and the transition from the roof to the trunk....I'm happy happy happy....
I should also mention the car will be dropped about 2 more inches....It'll have the stainless side trim, And skirts....going to the paint shop next week for a coat of Washington blue.........
The "right tools for the job"...lol Here is the finished project(1st time. Full fendered a couple times, then back fender-less,all black,no flames....3 different motors, Owned the car for 12 years). Your 41 looks great. Set of skirts and spotlights and your ready to cruise! Keep up the good work. Baron
