Less is better. Meaning DONT Chop it. Just needs 6 things: 16"wheels/drop axle/40 brakes/V8 carb/intake/fuel pump. "Chopping is SOOooo . . . . . YesterYear"
A friend of mine is doing one with No Chop and it is coming out great. I vote No Chop on this one. Enjoy it for awhile and if you don't like it you can always chop it later.
needs to be chopped and channeled with a big Z in the frame like 9 out of 10 model A's built in the last 10 years. I think it is a law that this must be done.
I like the heavy chop with a stock height, wheels, and fenders.... stuff a little flathead V8 in there with some juice brakes... hmmm... Thats my own sick fantasy, if I was you I would just lower it with some steel wheels and juice brakes. hop up the bangers and cruise it. Believe it or not, these cars look really good with fenders.
I am building a 40's era A-V8 right now with no chop. It has a z'd frame in the rear and a dropped axle and I think it looks great. There are alot of chopped A coupes out there. Leave this one be and hop up that banger and drop her down a bit. There is nothing like an original bodied A that has the right stance and a hot little banger motor. Swap out to some 16 inch wires with 7.50 and 6.00 firestones and you got a timeless winner.
Like the pickups, 29s just look good left alone. I really can't believe I'm voting no chop, but something about the cowl, roundy fenders, petite radiator shell. I'm thinkin the stance and color will do more for it. 30-31, I'll bring the sawzall.
pull off the body, sell the rest to a restorer, chop, channel (or use a 32 frame) add some louvers, put the bigest motor you can find in it, lots of carbs, cheater slicks and drive the wheels off of it. There is absolutely no such thing as to nice to cut, thats the kind of car people originaly made hot rods out of anyway!
I dont think I'm necessarily tired of chopped fenderless cars, but I agree with everything else louvers said. I dont see the point in chopping up a beautiful piece of history like that. Now if it was sitting outside neglected for decades and not complete, that would be a different story. I vote no chop for this one.
I must have missed the memo saying all hot rods had to be chopped......... The coolest Model A coupe I have seen in quite some time looked like a restored stocker at first glance. Upon a second look the later wires, twin tail pipes, slight rubber rake and extra vintage gauges under the dash gave it away.Sometimes subtle is the way to go!
had to check and see what site I was on, for a second I thought I was on the ford barn. I have no concept for the term to nice to cut. Thats a blank canvas on which to make an awsome rod. The nice ones are the easiest to work on. Less rust to deal with, less parts to locate and more parts to sell to fund go fast goodys. Its not a piece of history its a stinking car. I would cut it even if Henery Ford asembled it himself, autographed it and concieved Edsel Ford in the rumble seat!
