Ok, ive got a dillemma. I chopped my 65 chevy panel 6", and am ready for gl*** in the sides. Ive removed the wing windows and am going to run one piece gl***, with a power flat gl*** setup. WHen i chopped it, the a-pillar side of the door top came back 2 degrees, and the b-pillar side came forward about 5 degrees. What should i do about window channels? The ones i removed had no felt type stuff left on them, and were just like accordian looking cheap metal. I also thought i could make some, with a break and shrinker, but would that work, and how could i cover it in felt?? Well, please get back to me, this is a big bump in my road, and it may start raining soon, and i have no windows... ooops.
Window channel comes with the felt already on it. You can get it in universal strait 6' long. Just go to any auto gl*** shop. It doesn't half to be just Chev Truck. The Wizzard
look up your local glas shop they probably keep it for farm equiptment and trucks. ALSO- A tip when leaning both posts...you now have two "pointed" ends of the door gl***. When it is rolled down as a one peice it will chatter and not roll up smoothly or down. Lets say for reference your side gl***es openings are 10 inches tall. your actual gl*** should be 13-14" tall. thjat way once it is rolled down it will have that 3-4" on each end as a vertical surface that will "steady"the gl*** during its operation.
Choprods is 100% correct. To add to that you should add a brackett to stop the gl*** in the down position that limits the gl*** from going beyond the lower edge of the window opening. If it goes down to far it can tip and catch the under side of the opening and not want to come back up out of the door. The Wizzard
