About 4/5 years ago I was working at a restoration shop that did almost all early Thunderbirds. I used to drive my chopped '53 Ford and the owner always told me about a '50 Ford he had in the late 50's/early 60's. So one day he shows up with a '50 Tudor and I did a 4" chop on the top for him. After the top was done, he parked it behind the shop to focus on customer work and it hasn't been finished yet. Last week I was there on business and I brought my camera to take some pictures of the car as it sits. He says he's going to start back in on the car pretty soon. He's had offers on the car but doesn't want to sell it, so I really hope he gets on it and starts building. He just bought a 4" Merc flatty for it and he has my old 3 deuce flathead intake/carbs so I know he's going to do it up right. And just because it was in with the same batch of pictures, I'm throwing in a picture of my '40 Chrysler which got put together this past week for a local car show in my hometown. Still needs to be lowered and has lots of finish work to be taken care of, but it's really starting to look like something. Enjoy.
That visor on your Chrysler really pulls togethet that *****in look. Good job. Who made that 3X2 manifold?? Any pics? -RNB
It was an Offenhauser (sp?) intake with '97s and the 97's were painted red. Looked cool with the red flathead motor. Glad SOMEBODY likes my '40. I really like the visor too, I got it at a swap meet for $15, I think it had been stepped on or run over. Straightened out nice and fit the car well. I would rather have had a Fulton but they go for $350+ some times and they ain't THAT cool. Thanks for the response. I thought this thread was going to slip away into oblivion without a reply.
Thanks. I've never even attempted a canted B-pillar chop, although it's something I'd like to try in the future, on the right car. Not sure what it would look like on a Tudor, seems like the rear window would be really m***ive. Hopefully in a year or two I can post pics of the car when it's done. I know he's going to do it right.
Wow. Unique! Reminds me of that thing customizers once strived to achieve...lol. Once again good job. -RNB
